Tonight’s Super Full Moon / Total Lunar Eclipse

moonwithtextTonight we have a very special
Full Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse!

Tonight’s Full Moon is at perigee, which means it is the closest to the Earth on its orbit, and is a Supermoon. Supermoons can appear 15% larger than regular full moons. Tonight is also a Total Lunar Eclipse, where the moon will appear to turn blood red – hence the name, Blood Moon. It’s also known as the Harvest Moon. The moon will be at 4 degrees 40 Aries tonight – opposite the Sun in Libra, which is also conjunct the super galactic center (at 2 degrees Libra).

Full Moons are areas of culmination, graduation, illumination, and show what we have arrived at, learned, and are ready to leave behind. Because this is a Total Lunar Eclipse, it will also illuminate the areas of our unconscious that are ruled by Aries. This can mean reviewing (especially in Mercury retrograde, until Oct 9th) how we are being too self-centered, self-serving, self-absorbed, aggressive, and war-like – all shadow aspects of Aries. It encourages us to focus instead on the aspects of Libra – love of peace, relationship. This also conjuncts the north node – our collective evolution. Very potent stuff here!

The Sabian symbol for 5 degrees Aries is:

‘A Triangle with Wings’ : Evolution of values in the sphere of inward self, but at a stage not yet substantiated. Eagerness for a spiritual goal.

new moon in libra: initiation, activation and evolution

by divine harmony

the new moon at 1’08 libra is exact on tuesday september 23rd, 2014 at 11:14pm PDT. this new moon happens a day after the sun’s ingress into libra, the time of the fall equinox in the northern hemisphere and the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere. the equinoxes are the times of year when day and night are equal- and symbolically this is a time to find balance within the self and in our outer lives. libra is a sign of balance- so this equinox new moon can start a brand new chapter in our lives in regards to how we strike this balance, or it may highlight where things are out of balance first so that we can be clear on what it is we need to realign within and without 😉

it is interesting to note that the equinox is the day BEFORE the new moon- so the equinox chart itself shows a dark moon (balsamic moon). there is something about the coming season (fall for those in the north, spring for those in the south) that has a focus on endings, completion, release, renewal and regeneration. we are seeking balance in our lives, relationships and the world around us- yet it is not until we are able to truly end and complete an old way of doing and being that we can birth something new and find the true, masterful balance we seek in our lives. this is amplified by the fact that pluto also stations direct on the same day as the equinox- so the lord of the underworld and planet of transformation, death and rebirth is strongly configured as an old cycle and season makes it way out. pluto is the root rooter of the Universe- so when he is stationary it truly is time to clear out the inner and outer crap in our lives!

this new moon is a powerhouse new moon for many reasons- and i HIGHLY recommend cleansing, retreating and taking time to introspect and reflect in the days leading up to it. we are not only ending an old lunar cycle at the start of next week (september 22nd-23rd)- we are also ending a whole season. endings precede new beginnings, but if we are still stuck in the past with one foot in and one foot out- we will not be going anywhere new! and worst, we will be dragging the past into our future with us- which depending on what it is we are holding onto, could actually serve to slow our growth and evolution down.

the sabian symbol for this new moon is ‘the light of the sixth race transmuted to the seventh’….

Cosmic Weather: Full Moon Report October, 2013

by Irma Kaye Sawyer

Hello friends. We are currently on the road to what promises to be a very powerful Full Moon in Aries, along with a Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses are powerful “stillpoints” in time that tend to magnetize, accelerate and also move out people, places and things in our lives that are no longer in service to our highest purposes. Since it is a Lunar Eclipse it will have an emotional, Yin/Feminine charge to it which is interesting considering its corresponding moon (Aries) is a Yang/masculine energy.

Cosmic Weather energy alert: With over 35 solar flares in the past four days of this writing including three M-Class, (10.16.13) it is clear that we are in another “vibrational upgrade” period. People may be more fatigued than usual, and those with pain and/or other health issues may find that they have increased. Please remember to practice good self-care and a little compassion for self and others goes a long way.

So how does this connect to the current Full Moon/Eclipse report? We have even *more* cosmic back-up so to speak to support these energies and their transformational properties. Emotions may be up and tempers may be inflamed also. In high energy periods such as this it is also not uncommon for some people to experience heightened “free floating anxiety.” It may be helpful to share the Cosmic Weather information to anyone who you feel could benefit and be open to it.

This may also promote even more of a “moment of truth” kind of vibe in the atmosphere. Remember also that Aries energy is *Martial* and that means: decisive, direct and to the point. Remember also friends, that others may also be having their own moments of truth. This is definitely a time to tune into your own intuition which may be heightened at this time before you have that direct conversation or “state of the union” address with a friend or loved one. If you are getting a yellow or red light on proceeding, I would go with that. By early Saturday morning the moon will have moved into Taurus. The energies of the eclipse will still be around however, but the martial edge should be taken down a notch, especially by Sunday.

Aries energy is also related to the spiritual warrior archetype and conquering personal fears. This was the cosmic tune that came to me and I think it’s rather perfect. You say the hill’s too steep to climb, chiding! You say you’d like to see me try, climbing! You pick the place and I’ll choose the time, and I’ll climb the hill in my own way. Just wait a while, for the right day. ~ Gilmour/Waters

The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are Sun at 26-27 deg Libra: An Airplane Sails, High In The Clear Sky. Moon at 25-26 deg Aries: A Man Possessed Of More Gifts Than He Can Hold.

These are both very interesting symbols, especially in configuration with each other. If we have more gifts than we can hold on first glance this looks like a positive thing, but not if we are dropping them on the ground or wasting them in some way. This symbol to me connotes a slowing down and paying attention which during a major POWER show of a Martial Aries moon may be easier said than done, but it is certainly worth noting. It also indicates *discernment* as to which of our gifts are must useful and relevant at this particular time.

The Libra Sabian Symbol is a beautiful and timely one. One way to get a different view on our issues and problems is to “rise above” them, and this is exactly what is suggested with this symbol. Aries moons always are associated with a “freedom” aspect, but this one this is highly accentuated due to the other planetary aspects that accompany it, and also with the general atmosphere of the cosmic weather.

There is a certain bratty or rebellious aspect to Aries energy that I sometimes see as a kid saying “neener neener!” and running away. I am quite familiar with it, since my own Natal moon is in Aries. Rebellion for the sake of rebellion can be silly and ineffectual; as in the story one of my teachers told of the man who landed a good job at IBM in the 1970′s. He thought their dress code of wearing a tie was “stupid,” so he quit wearing one to rebel.

Well that strategy soon landed him on the unemployment line. There are superficial and also more useful forms of rebellion, and this Full Moon/Eclipse invites us to rebel from the larger things in our lives that are holding us back on a SOUL level: old childhood conditioning and issues, and the less skillful emotions of resentment, anger, jealousy and guilt. We have a divine and cosmic opportunity to throw them in the ceremonial fire and fly high to our freedom. This is definitely a noteworthy moment for cosmic skywatchers.

Full Moon Message: Dear ones, will you take the road most widely traveled or travel upon your own? No matter what is happening or not happening in outer world you have the choice – to have mastery over your own existence. The world offers many opportunities for self-mastery and to overcome. The upcoming Full Moon/Eclipse is a moment in time, a stillpoint to celebrate the uniqueness that is you and to use the heightened cosmic energies for your own advancement. ~ The Keepers, 10.16.13

So what would I say is the bottom line of these energies? Drop fears, fly high in Spirit and shine like the unique bright star that you are. It’s been a powerful and challenging year so far. Let’s allow ourselves to be polished and refined by it, not made cynical or harmed by all of the changes. We do have the choice. Thank god/dess for that.

Happy Full Moon friends!
