Tonight’s Super Full Moon / Total Lunar Eclipse

Tonight we have a very special
Full Moon + Total Lunar Eclipse!

Tonight’s Full Moon is at perigee, which means it is the closest to the Earth on its orbit, and is a Supermoon. Supermoons can appear 15% larger than regular full moons. Tonight is also a Total Lunar Eclipse, where the moon will appear to turn blood red – hence the name, Blood Moon. It’s also known as the Harvest Moon. The moon will be at 4 degrees 40 Aries tonight – opposite the Sun in Libra, which is also conjunct the super galactic center (at 2 degrees Libra).

Full Moons are areas of culmination, graduation, illumination, and show what we have arrived at, learned, and are ready to leave behind. Because this is a Total Lunar Eclipse, it will also illuminate the areas of our unconscious that are ruled by Aries. This can mean reviewing (especially in Mercury retrograde, until Oct 9th) how we are being too self-centered, self-serving, self-absorbed, aggressive, and war-like – all shadow aspects of Aries. It encourages us to focus instead on the aspects of Libra – love of peace, relationship. This also conjuncts the north node – our collective evolution. Very potent stuff here!

Pluto sends love letter to Earth

After 9 1/2 years in flight, NASA’s New Horizons space probe will capture first-ever pictures of the remote dwarf planet Pluto and send them back to earth, including pictures of a heart-shaped feature on Pluto’s surface believed to be composed of frozen gases.

October 8 – Full Moon Eclipse in Aries

There’s a full moon eclipse in Aries that will be viewable from certain parts of North America early tomorrow morning.

It’s called the ‘Blood Moon’ because the shadow cast by the eclipse on the moon makes it look a dark red-orange color.

new moon in libra: initiation, activation and evolution

the new moon at 1’08 libra is exact on tuesday september 23rd, 2014 at 11:14pm PDT. this new moon happens a day after the sun’s ingress into libra, the time of the fall equinox in the northern hemisphere and the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere. the equinoxes are the times of year when day and night are equal- and symbolically this is a time to find balance within the self and in our outer lives. libra is a sign of balance- so this equinox new moon can start a brand new chapter in our lives in regards to how we strike this balance, or it may highlight where things are out of balance first so that we can be clear on what it is we need to realign within and without 😉

it is interesting to note that the equinox is the day BEFORE the new moon- so the equinox chart itself shows a dark moon (balsamic moon). there is something about the coming season (fall for those in the north, spring for those in the south) that has a focus on endings, completion, release, renewal and regeneration. we are seeking balance in our lives, relationships and the world around us- yet it is not until we are able to truly end and complete an old way of doing and being that we can birth something new and find the true, masterful balance we seek in our lives. this is amplified by the fact that pluto also stations direct on the same day as the equinox- so the lord of the underworld and planet of transformation, death and rebirth is strongly configured as an old cycle and season makes it way out. pluto is the root rooter of the Universe- so when he is stationary it truly is time to clear out the inner and outer crap in our lives!

this new moon is a powerhouse new moon for many reasons- and i HIGHLY recommend cleansing, retreating and taking time to introspect and reflect in the days leading up to it. we are not only ending an old lunar cycle at the start of next week (september 22nd-23rd)- we are also ending a whole season. endings precede new beginnings, but if we are still stuck in the past with one foot in and one foot out- we will not be going anywhere new! and worst, we will be dragging the past into our future with us- which depending on what it is we are holding onto, could actually serve to slow our growth and evolution down.

Full Moon in Pisces – Sept 8th

FULL MOON IN PISCES- 9/8/14

the full moon in pisces is exact on monday september 8th at 6:38pm PDT, marking the midway point of the current lunar cycle we are in that began with the new moon in virgo on august 25th. that new moon was in earthy, grounded, discerning virgo- but it was also opposite nebulous, diffusive, illusory neptune- so the whole lunar cycle has something of the mythical and magical, as well as the delusional and deceptive about it. can you think of at least one area in your life where things are not what they seem and where you are trying to get yourself out of some kind of neptunian fog? i know i sure can!

this full moon is potent- as it is in the last sign of the zodiac (pisces) and it is conjunct chiron, the wounded healer planetoid. new moon opposite neptune began a vague, watery and misty moon cycle- and this full moon which marks the midpoint is what i am calling a waterworks full moon! the moon in any of the water signs is already very emotional, sensitive and receptive- but i would argue that pisces is the most sensitive of all the signs. pisces is the sign of permeability of the ego self. the reason why strong pisces/neptune people tend to be so spiritual and creative (or delusional and deceptive) is because of their permeable boundaries. with the full moon in pisces we have a heightened sense of sensitivity- which could bring us to the point of bliss or to the point of pain and suffering. if you find yourself in tears leading up to this full moon- now you know why (i think crying is good- it helps you to release all that you are holding onto).

moon conjunct chiron is a very heavy aspect. there is wounding and pain around emotions, being supported, nurtured and being contained. since pisces is the sign of vast consciousness- there is simply no way to put a container around all that it feels and experiences! this full moon can bring up some deep psychic stuff around childhood, the past and/or the shadow. looking at any wounds and pain (or denial) we have around codependency, enabling, addiction, victimization or playing the martyr is key right now. to add to this on thursday 9/4 chiron was perigee- which means his orbit was closest to earth. whenever planets (or planetoids) are closest to earth their energy is felt more palpably- and so this amplifies the sensitivity and woundedness in the air right now.

solar eclipse in taurus – 4/28/14

the annular solar eclipse in taurus is exact on monday april 28th at 11:04pm PDT (with the new moon itself being exact at 11:14pm), commencing a brand new lunar cycle and completing the eclipse portal we have been in that started on april 15th with the total lunar eclipse in libra. eclipse portals are powerful periods of time where we are taken very quickly from point A to point B. this can be freeing, liberation and transforming- or it can be chaotic, intense and anxiety producing. often it is a mix of both!

both the lunar eclipse and the solar eclipse are ruled by venus in pisces- so these particularly eclipse are focused on relationships, our values and self-worth. major shifts, changes, shake ups and wake up calls are playing out in how we do that self and other dance- as well as how we do the masculine/feminine dance within.

this solar eclipse is like an amped up new moon- which is very supportive of setting intentions, planting seeds and commencing on new legs of journey. new moons help us start new chapters in life, whereas solar eclipses help us start on a new volume. wherever this eclipse falls in your chart is the area of life that you have major opportunities to start new things. if you happen to have planets or placements linage with 8-9 taurus then you have even more support from the Universe to start writing a new story for yourself!

the sun/moon conjunction is in earthy, sensual, material-focused taurus- making this solar eclipse a great time to start new things in regards to our physical, embodied experience. whether that involves a new financial plan, generating more abundance, enjoying life more or attending to the physical/material world with more practicality and focus- you have the support from the stars to do it! the sun and moon are both conjunct mercury- so a lot of information, ideas, communication or travel can feature right now. opening the mind to new things coming in is key at this time- so watch out for the tendency to be stubborn and stuck in your ways!

both the sun and moon make sweet aspects to neptune in pisces, pluto in capricorn and chiron in pisces- bringing a spiritual, transformative and healing energy to this eclipse. the transpersonal planets bring in Divine energies and the taurus planets ground them into the physical, material realm. this is mirrored by jupiter in the eclipse chart who is conjunct sirius- the powerful fixed star that is all about the mundane becoming sacred. we have major opportunities right now to align our reality with our dreams, our lower selves with our Higher Selves.

it is interesting to note that both venus in pisces and retrograde mars in libra make tense aspects to this eclipse- so relationships are again brought into focus. we may need to figure out how to make relationships work in our lives. we may be asked to find a new balance of yin and yang within. wherever our edge is is where our growth is- so if you are already good at compromising and keeping the peace, then your growth is to take a stand, set boundaries and speak up. alternatively if you are already good at being independent, taking action and speaking up for yourself- then your growth is to learn to compromise, collaborate and give as much as you take.

with venus as the ruler of this lunation as well as the last eclipse- we have focus on our values, self-worth and altruistic intentions. the Highest expression of venus in pisces is being compassionate, unconditionally Loving and service oriented. but the shadow side is that venus in pisces needs to work on boundaries and deal with any issues she may have with codependency, enabling, addiction, victimization, avoidance and denial. she is so well aspected right now so we do have the ability to tap into her highest energies, yet we still need to stay super aware of her shadow. it is very easy to fool ourselves into thinking we are only simply being generous and caring when in truth we are enabling and involving ourselves in codependent connections that are unhealthy for all parties involved.

in the eclipse chart venus makes tense aspects to the sun, moon and mercury- showing that our idealism may be at odds with the practical, realities that are present in our lives right now. yet venus does make a sweet trine to saturn in scorpio, so if we are ready, willing and able to acknowledge the shadow and deal with it- we can make great strides in our emotional and financial relationships at this time. we can also find a deeper level of self-worth and self-respect out of which we make healthier decisions in relationships and financial situations.

of course the Grand Cross between retrograde mars, jupiter, uranus and retrograde pluto is still in effect- but luckily it is starting to wane. mars will go direct on may 19th and then from june 14th to june 25th mars will trigger uranus/pluto for the 3rd and final time. so it may not be until then that the things that got activated and intensified during this powerful month of april fully culminate or complete themselves. the good news for us is that all this earthy, grounded taurus energy is helping us ground down into the new terrain we find ourselves in as a result of all the upheaval and chaos that the Grand Cross has brought. things may be up in the air- but the solar eclipse in taurus helps us find our center despite any storms, shifts and changes playing out around us.

this solar eclipse is a wonderful opportunity for us to get real, grounded, focused and present with what we want to birth in our lives. it’s the perfect time to align with our deepest values and unconditional Love for self AND other- so that we can make healthy decisions and align ourselves with what is right for us in our lives.

take time to set your intentions at this new moon/solar eclipse! the opportunities and openings present are not a silver spoon in the mouth. they are there for the taking- but we have to be ready, willing and able to grasp it and work for it! so take the rest of this week to get clear on what that is (and read your weekly horoscopes to see where this plays out for you) and then get ready to call something new in in a big way!
